September 15th, 2009 OOTD

For my OOTD, today I wore a floral print dress ($20) from H&M, a grey cardigan/shawl from H&M, black tights, silver buckle black flats from Aldo, a 5$ ring from a DT street vendor, my friendship necklace, and a silver bracelet from les Ailes de la Mode. Today I went shopping with my mommy, well for groceries, but they had a Joe Fresh at the supermarket. I bought a cute animal print grey cardigan (pictsures below)! It was a good price too: 29$(CAN). I can't wait to wear it with a high waisted skirt; I think it'll look so cute! Anyways, that's it for today.

Monday OOTD!

The weekend always seems to go by extremely quickly... :( But, I guess the quicker the days go by, the sooner Christmas vacation will come, right? So today I was not feeling that well (I have a sore throat) so I didn't feel like "dressing up". Plus I was going to be going to my fitness class (hard core!) in between classes to I wanted to wear something I could easily change out of. It was a long day... I had a class at 11:45, my fitness class at 1:00, and then another class at 4:15 to 5:30pm. I am glad Monday is done! I have a bit of homework to do (reading and notes), so I am off to do that now. I leave you with my comfy and simple OOTD. Today I wore my American Apparel black leggings, American Apparel long black cardigan, a black scarf, a ring from Forever 21, and brown leather boots from Zara. And because I didn't want to fuss with my hair today, I just put it into a simple chignon. I know it isn't my most "stylish" look... but at least I didn't wear my black leather flats again! :)

Have a good night!

Fashion on the VMAs 2009 Awards!!

So, on the red carpet of VMAs 2009, I saw a lot of bling, sparkle, and shine, and I also saw a lot of black. Those seemed to be the two extremes (or sometimes a combination of the two). I guess to be a celebrity, you've gotta have some bedazzle, glitz and glamma!! Anyways...here are some of my favourite glitzed out, glamourous outfits of the night! Enjoy!!

Love the Roman/Greek shield inspiration here! Love the black with gold detailing. Shakira also wore this dress to the VMAs, but it was a total fail with the boots! Contrastingly, Pink wears the dress with some black pumps which elongates her legs.

Okay, so Olivia Palermo isn't necessarily a favourite on The City, but you've got to admit.. she's got amazing sense in style! I love the cut out shoulders, which gives her an elegant yet sexy look. And I love how she paired it with a fierce belt! And omg her shoes... LOVE! Need I say more?

I just really loved the detailing on Nelly Furtado's dress. I mean, it's all black yet the sequined detailing on the top bodice is emaculate! And I love the pockets! Even though her outfit is all black, it still looks stunning and not your typical LBD.

I just love Maria's dress. Even though it's black, there's still some gold detailing on the skirt that makes it fun! I love the ballerina-inspired LBD and the bow detailing is such a sweet touch! And again, shoes!! <3

I just really like this dress. I like the contrast of the white on black and the white design on the dress is absolutely beautiful! I love how she made the dress the main focus and everything else was simple, from the shoes to her accessories to her hair and makeup.

I love Taylor Swift and everything I've ever seen her in has been elegant and classic. Here she looks absolutely stunning with a sparly, long dress that just flows with the body. She paired the dress with a classic red lip and winged eye. Love it!

OMG! This is probably my second favourite outfit from the night!! I think this is just so beautiful!! I love the sparkle and bedazzle of this dress! I love the details and I especially love the sweetheart neckline (I want me a sweetheart neckline for my future wedding dress! lol). I think this dress fits Katy's style to the T and she looks beautiful in it!

OMG MY FAVOURITE OUTFIT OF THE NIGHT!! I <3 Alexa Chung!! She is amazingly stylish always!

Have a good night!

ps: Taylor Swift FTW!!! :)

No School Fridays

Hi everyone!

So no OOTD today... because... I have no school on Fridays! I just decided to stay in today, so I didn't get dressed up. Today I spent some time browsing through fall 2009 fashion shows from New York, Paris, and Milan. I decided to compile some of my favourite looks for you and provide a brief summary or recap of the trends for the upcoming season.

1. Many of the designers have seemed to incorporate the shape and style of the 1940s. There was definitely a feel of postwar fashion. There were a lot of beautifully tailored suits (with accentuated waists, fuller hips, and prominent shoulders) with a play on an hourglass figure, as well as 1940s inspired dresses, full skirts, makeup, hairstyles, hair accessories, and tights (the drawn on back of the leg seen at Dolce and Gabbana's fashion show; in the 1940s, because money was tight, the women would not be able to afford nylon [used to make stockings] so instead they would draw black lines on the back of their legs to give the allusion that they were wearing stockings). Some designers who really incorporated this trend include Bottega Veneta, DKNY, D&G, Moschino, Jason Wu, and Oscar de la Renta.

2. There was also a lot of 80s inspiration with leggings, leather, and funky colours. A lot of designers mixed very bold colours with more subdued or natural colours.

Trends that will be "in style" this upcoming Fall season:

- Leather jackets
- Blazers
- High waisted pants and skirts with belts (both skinny and thick)
- Black tights (as well as textured tights)
- Leggings
- Accentuated shoulders
- Capes
- Hourglass shape
- Ruffles
- Full skirts
- Power suits
- Loose "harem" pants (tapered ankles)
- Booties
- Thigh high boots

Personally, I am a BIG fan of the 1940/1950s style so I am so happy to see it being a major trend this upcoming season!! I am a BIG fan of the stylings of Grace Kelly and Doris Day with the full skirts, cardigans, and pretty hair accessories.

Here are some of my favourite looks (excluding Chloe which can be found in one of my previous posts):

"ORANGE" you just lovin' the colour Orange for this Fall??

MY OOTD INSPIRATIONS:

Haha... so yes.. that was my horrible attempt to incorporate the "orange" catch word from the overly used joke (punch line: orange you glad i didn't say orange again? hahaha! yeah... it's an old and annoying joke, but hey, it's a classic!). But anyways, the colour orange seems to be one the "must-wear" colours for this season, as it is being seen as a prominent colour in many fashion shows, including Chloe, Zac Posen, DKNY, Oscar De La Renta, Michael Kors, etc. After having purused many pictures from fall fashion shows, my mind was definitely thinking orange! I'm not sure if it was my minds' way of encouraging me to so-called "fit in! fit in!" or if it was because I had just seen so much of the colour that I became intrigued but I suddenly had the urgency to wear orange. Then I remembered that I had bought a burnt orange colour oversized cardigan from a thrift store last year. Score! So, thus, it became the focal point of my outfit the following day (aka today). With it I wore a floral print dress from Zara, my black tights, and black leather shoes from Browns (i know, i know... again? I promise to wear different shoes next week!!). My accessories included my friendship necklace, gold bracelets from Forever21, and a ring (LOVE) from Aldo. But then (Seriously, I am not even kidding you!) after I stepped out of the house, all my mind could focus on was ORANGE things. That was all I would see, and I was like whoa! there's so much orange in our world!! I mean, I was walking to my bus stop, and bam! Lady in an orange skirt, man in an orange jacket, orange construction hat, orange pilons, orange Harvey's sign, orange bike, orange car, orange carrots!! And that was just in less than 10 minutes. haha.. I am not crazy!!! I just saw a lot of orange today! But that was probably just due to the fact that I was so fixated on that colour the day before!! That's about it for my rambling right now... :)
